One of Britain’s truly iconic film composers, John Barry is probably best known for scoring eleven of the James Bond movies and helping to create the distinctive musical style of these films. His work for Chappell Recorded Music Library began in the 1950’s during the time leading up to his first James Bond score. Indeed some of the early musical ideas for the Bond films can be heard in his work for Chappell, including the pieces Mood One and Mood Two. Since the James Bond movies, John Barry has gone onto win five Academy Awards for best score for movies such as ‘Dances with Wolves’, ‘Born Free’ and ‘Out of Africa’.
