Duncan Schwier is general manager of Universal Publishing Production Music, which includes Atmosphere Music, Bruton and Chappell production music libraries. He has worked for and produced the Atmosphere label since 1984.

"The new BBC Production Music catalogue is a chance to rethink what production music is and how it fits into TV production in the future. It's a combination of re-compiled soundtracks and new compositions. It's a sound that has come to define quality TV production, whether that's the Daleks and Doctor Who, or the panoramic splendour of Human Planet; the jaunty drama of Desperate Romantics, Cranford, or the dark suspense of Luther. The music seems to have a hidden life, but is still very easy to use and score with."

Future productions will feature key composers from the BBC such as Dave Arch, Ty Unwin, Daniel Pemberton, Nitin Sawhney. They will be diverse, contemporary and surprising. Next in the pipeline is Fire & Passion Trailers. Dramatic, cinematic orchestral tracks with the power and passion of the tango and flamenco.
